|My greatest passion in life is teaching. I have been tutoring and teaching for 5 years in various settings such as tutoring small and large groups for preschool, primary and secondary students. I am graduated at University of Malaya (UM) for Bachelorís in Economics and Administration, specialization in Economics and Political Science.
My teaching style is primarily centred on class engagement. I adapt my teaching style to cater for everyone and make the material as interesting as possible. I like to encourage students to ask questions and really understand subjects. I find non-traditional methods, like hands-on learning, to be particularly effective. I usually give out test samples that are easy for them so that they do well. When they see their score, they start to believe they can do it. This is a huge confidence booster. I'll continue to add just one or two challenging questions but continue to make it doable for their level. I review their homework and tests to see which specific areas they are consistently struggling with. Then I give sample problems to zero in on weak areas. I also ask what areas they find difficult.
Ideally, I prefer a quiet area that the student is comfortable in, but I know how to keep a student on track even in distraction-filled environments. If I can have a positive impact on their future, I feel I am doing my job well. I am an effective communicator, both in writing and verbally and I have a strong ability to plan and organize effectively, something which is crucial to the role of a competent tutor. I cope very well with pressure and can adapt my style or teaching methods, when needed, to deliver consistent results. I have an understanding of the bigger picture and the pressures that are placed on the school. I am someone who always implements effective behavior management processes in the classroom and strive myself on an ability to continually develop both personally and professionally. I am a positive person who has an enthusiastic outlook on life. I love my job and I get a great sense of achievement from seeing my students develop and grow as individuals.
